"Thank you for this experience, it was the first experience I've ever had with backpacking and it was so much more than I expected."  -UGA anonymous student feedback, 2003 reviews

Beginning Backpacking

This class covers the basics and some advanced techniques of hiking and camping. It is for students who want to learn how to plan and safely execute their own backpacking adventures. Every student who is willing to leave previous doubts and fears behind and open themselves up to a greater relationship with nature will finish this class as a competent, or even advanced backpacker.

I still recall the first trips I took on my own -as a teen- after rekindling the love with nature travel that I learned as a child. I relearned a lot of trail-lessons -fast! Eleven years and 6,000 trail miles later, I truly understand how easy the lessons were, if only I hadn't had to learn them all on my own! Sharing those lessons with new backpackers is the joy of my life. We offer to you the skills and tools that will help maximize your experiences in nature.
